Emily Gardner is a 23-year-old painter exploring the beauty of everyday objects — capturing light on glass, vibrant produce, and quiet moments on canvas.
Each subject is given a canvas of its own and a single field of colour to sit in, so that nothing distracts from the object itself: the sheen on a cherry, the checks of a gingham lid, ice settling in a glass on a summer afternoon.
A love of baking runs through the work — fondant fancies, sprinkled cupcakes, a croissant painted flake by flake, a whisk lifted from meringue at the moment the peak holds. Alongside the paintings she draws in pencil and colour pencil, where butterflies return again and again.
The works shown here are from her personal collection and are not for sale.
